Looking back at the events of December, we would like to share another important aspect of the work of the Grassroots Institute, which we did not have the opportunity to highlight earlier, yet which holds long-term significance for the development of our educational and cultural programmes.
Within the framework of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Grassroots Institute and the Vinogradiv Theatre Studio “YVS Art”, two theatrical performances were implemented under the auspices of our organisation:
These performances were carried out as part of our programmes “Education Through Culture” and “Planet Without Waste”, which aim to foster environmental awareness, critical thinking, and social responsibility through accessible and emotionally engaging artistic formats.
The value of these performances lies in the ability of theatre to address complex and often abstract issues – such as artificial intelligence, human responsibility for decision-making, waste crisis, and the depletion of natural resources – through a clear, emotional, and accessible language of art.
The audience included:
In this way, theatre became not only a cultural venue but also an educational and dialogical space, enabling representatives of different generations to reflect on shared contemporary challenges.
A particularly encouraging outcome was that the performance “Keep the Planet Clean” received first prize at the “ZlataFest” festival. This recognition confirms not only the high artistic quality of the theatre’s work, but also the relevance of the waste crisis as a pressing issue that can no longer be ignored by society.
Within this cooperation, the Grassroots Institute also contributed to the material support for the performances. A wireless microphone system was purchased and transferred to the theatre, and is already being actively used during performances, allowing for:
We believe that support for cultural initiatives should be not only declarative, but also practical.
For our organisation, it is particularly important that the impact of these performances is not limited to individual showings. In 2026, the performances are planned to be presented to school audiences, which will allow the educational and environmental impact to be scaled, contributing to the development of environmental culture, responsible attitudes towards nature, and critical thinking among children and adolescents.
For the Grassroots Institute, this partnership represents more than support for individual events. It is an investment in long-term cooperation, the development of the cultural environment of local communities, and the use of art as a powerful tool for education and social change.
We sincerely thank the “YVS Art” Theatre Studio team for their partnership, inspiration, and shared belief that culture can change mindsets, and art can inspire a responsible attitude towards our planet. We continue this path together 💚
